#3 - Choice
May 13, 2025 at 08:13:12 PM
Hello fellow musicians,

Just a quick update to let you know that you can now choose between three playlists in the game settings, so you can tailor the experience to your own musical taste! Two new playlists — "Rock" and "Rap" — feature tracks specific to those genres. The default playlist, "Various", offers a "best-of” selection spanning multiple styles.

All the songs used on the site are free to use and created by real human musicians — I do my best to avoid AI-generated content at all costs. Don’t forget: you can click the music note in the bottom-left corner of any game to get details about the current track and a link to listen to it.

You might also have noticed that the rankings at the end of each game seem a bit off, as if the counters had been reset. That’s because rankings now take the selected playlist into account — so you're only competing with players using the same settings AND the same playlist, to keep things fair. I’ll soon retroactively apply this to past games, so don’t worry too much about the current scores.

As always, feel free to reach out via the contact form at the bottom of any page to report bugs or share ideas!

Belle journée,
Lion
#2 - New music
May 9, 2025 at 02:55:02 PM
Hello fellow engineers,

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share feedback about your experience on the website — I'm thrilled to hear that some of you use this project daily to sharpen your listening skills!

After many attempts, I finally found a way to upload new music directly to the website. Until now, I had to add tracks manually at build time, which was both impractical and unscalable. This is a big step forward in expanding the variety of music available during the games. I’ve already added two new songs to the default playlist and removed one — feel free to let me know what you think of the new selection! I’ll be adding more tracks over the next few days, but I want to take a bit of time first to ensure everything works smoothly in real conditions.

The next milestone is to let you choose between several curated playlists in different genres (rock, classical, pop...) and even create and use your own! The backend architecture is already in place — now I just need to build a clean and intuitive interface to make it all easily accessible.

Thanks again for your support,
Bonne journée,
Lion
#1 - The first update !
November 24, 2024 at 12:25:45 AM
Hello folks,

I’m excited to share the first update from Lion-Train! I’ve been hard at work over the past three days, improving the website, fixing bugs, transitioning it to the latest and fastest technologies (upgrading from Svelte 4 to Svelte 5), and adding some missing features, like communication channels between you and me.

I started this personal project to sharpen my listening skills as an aspiring music producer. Like many others, I turned to SoundGym, but I was hesitant to pay more than $10 per month for simple games that, as a former engineering student and web development enthusiast, I realized I could easily code myself. So, I spent a few weeks building the website you know today, keeping it fairly minimal since it was initially intended for personal use.

However, just a few days ago, I was amazed to discover that since its launch, 11,235 games have been played by people from all over the world, and that we’re now a community of nearly 400 registered users! This completely blew me away and motivated me to take the project even further.

I’ve (finally!) implemented a contact form accessible from the website’s footer, in case you want to share feedback, as well as this news system to keep you updated on the project. The next steps will be adding more playlists and songs, improving game design —especially on mobile—, creating tutorials for newcomers, and adding customizable personal profiles where you can display your best scores. I really want to focus on building a community, and I’m even considering ways to give you the tools to create and share your own games.

My goal is to keep this project completely free to use forever, since SoundGym already exists as a paid solution. However, as a now-professional music producer (cheers!) and artist, I can’t dedicate the majority of my time to it. So, if you'd like to support the project, I’ve created a Buy Me A Coffee page (https://buymeacoffee.com/lionmusico3) where you can make one-time donations, or even subscribe with a small monthly payment to help me reach a sustainable income, so I can dedicate more time to it! The link is also available in the website’s footer.

Please confirm that you received this news, and I’d love to hear a bit about how you discovered the project.

Belle journée,
Lion
